Very interesting pictures Curt. Thank you for posting them. Now can anyone translate what is written on the card?

I can only guess that it is a wedding in Bucharest, with the ominous date of 1934... :(

What a great old cantorial record. Cannot say I've ever seen one on Pathé before. I am a shirt tail relation to Cantor Isador Kushner, and grew up with a lot of his records. That and the old Yiddish comedies. Thank you for sharing. Mike Wohl

Well, Romanian is a Romance language, so I'll give it a try:

"Mrs. & Mr. Jules Gall......................................................."Mrs. Basia Ruwinsky
have the honor to make known.........................................has the honor to make known
the [engagement?] of their...............................................the [engagement?] of her son
Fifi..................................................................................Rafael
to Mr...............................................................................to Miss
Rafael Ruwinsky".............................................................Fifi Gall"

"[..........?] welcome to attend the [civil and?] religious ceremony
[which will be held?] Sunday, 9 December, at 5:30 at Temple
Coral in [?] Street."

"Greetings will be [held first?] in the reception hall of the Temple."

Many thanks for this. I will copy and file it with the record and the original text.

Lucius - good job...
..."at Temple Coral in [?] Street."
The street is:
Strada Sfânta Vineri, București, Romania

Amazingly, Temple Choral is still in existence...
The Choral Temple is a synagogue located in Bucharest, Romania. It is a copy of Vienna's Leopoldstadt-Tempelgasse Great Synagogue, which was raised in 1855–1858. It was designed by Enderle and Freiwald and built between 1864 - 1866. Wikipedia

Only yesterday I discovered that Rafael Ruwinsky was also an operatic tenor. This poster lists him in the role of Canio in a production of Pagliacci which appears to have taken place somewhere in Hungary in September 1921.
Whether this was before or after he became a cantor I do not know.

I have a few Victor Yiddish discs. I have to write down who they are someday.
