I came across a few 78's in Hebrew today! I thought they were very interesting! Here is my favorite of the haul today

Great haul. Jewish and Hebrew records are very collectible.

I was told that Pathé had a brown wax series of cylinders in the 29,000 block. Do we know approx what date that would be? Supposedly, they were in Hebrew/Yiddish.

Thanks.

Rafael Ruwinsky, Chief Cantor in Bucharest 1926 who happily survived the Holocaust. This was a lucky find in a job lot of records at a flea market. Collectors of cantorial records from all over the world keep asking me to sell it, but where would I find another?

That's the point with so special records, exactly the ones you're keeping only by their rarity... To sell or not to sell? That is the question...
I have several records that I only keep for their rarity, not being the ones I play when I want 78rpm music, you may understand. I'm always thinking about selling them, but in the end, I am always repenting.
To be continued until there is no market for them and they eventually loose their value...
What to do?
Other times I think : sell them while there's still interest on them and you can earn some money!
Other times I think of donating them to an institution...

When my father died, we donated his collection of over 2000 operatic 78s, a considerable number of vinyl transcriptions and some books and catalogues to the King's College London music archive. They would have liked to take the Expert as well - but that was not on offer.

Rafael Ruwinsky was chief cantor in Bucarest Rumania, in the 1920s, and chairman of the cantor association.

Very interesting pictures Curt. Thank you for posting them. Now can anyone translate what is written on the card?
