No dance bands from me, this time. Instead I present Margaret Young, "comedienne with orchestra". If someone can provide me with the sheet music or just the lyrics, that would be great. I understand Margaret sings about Simbo Sambo, an exotic beauty from a place called Jimbo Jambo. But who is this Timbo Tambo? And who was it he gave a black eye? I compared it with the Billy Murray version I have on ASV Living Era`s "Hits of 1922" (not one of their best sound restoration efforts, btw), but his lyrics are almost completely different.
I started at 75 rpm and worked my way up until it sounded good to me. I ended up at approximately 78 rpm. Margaret still sounds a bit squeaky, but I guess she is supposed to sound like that.
Brunswick 2359 A, recorded October, 1921.
