Doin' the Raccoon by George Olsen and his Music 1928

There are many transfers and recordings of Doin' the Raccoon on youtube. Too many probably so I just added to the glut. But, I just bought a copy of the record that is near mint and the transfer turned out really great so I decided to make a video of it. This is a fun song that deals with collegiate life of the late 1920s. Raccoon coats were all the craze for football games and driving in cars. Lots of fun I think.

Very nice transfer! I listened to it over my big system.
This must have been a popular song, as so often the records found are rather worn.
Thanks for posting!

Certainly a popular record in it's time, I've got at least 3 or 4 copies and I've given away a few. I used to come across this all the time and always grabbed it because it's a great orthophonic machine demo disc and just an all around great record. It isn't easy at all to find in clean unworn condition, as Bob notes.

Nice transfer!

Sean

I subscribe to your You Tube page and I'm very grateful for the quality of the audio. This one is exceptional. I use my bluetooth speaker attachment to play it through the horn of my Victrola 8-12 and it's really great.

I'm lucky to have this in great condition and it's a favorite of mine.

The rat-tat-tat after Chicago's steel lined coats always makes me smile. :)

This may be the first record to mention "sex appeal"? :coffee:
Two years later Helen Kane sang that she's got "it", but "it" don't do her no good.

James.
