Australia souvenir record to commemorate the Royal Tour 1952

Post by melvind »

Here is a very strange UK Picture record produced for the Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1952. The 1952 Royal Tour to Australia was cancelled due to the death of King George VI. So, given that did this record actually get released? Perhaps it was released before the tour or something. In any case this is a somewhat rare record especially here in the USA.

There are two sides each with their own picture. Side 1 starts with a pipe band and then moves to an orchestral piece. Side 2 is a speech by the young Princess Elizabeth.

If anyone out there knows more about how this record was released I would love to hear from you.

Just curious, is this a 78 or 45rpm record?

78rpm

The record is just slightly smaller than a 10 inch 78.
