"HOT LIPS JOHNSON: CATCH 'EM YOUNG, TREAT 'EM ROUGH" is a song that makes me cringe every time I hear it. It can't be excused by "that was normal back then", mistreating and disrespecting women was never considered "normal".

Then there's the ubiquitous "Two Black Crows" set of Viva-Tonal discs. It seems those turn up in just about every record pile I've perused or purchased from New England to California (literally). I can only assume they were very popular.

I find "Two Black Crows" to be actually fairly humorous and "racial" only in it's title. Some pretty fair Vaudeville Humor.

Well, Phil Spector released the Crystals singing, "He Hit Me (and it Felt Like a Kiss)" in the early 1960s. Fortunately it didn't sell well.

My sentiments exactly. I've enjoyed the humor. I picked up a machine a couple of years back with the complete set in the storage compartment. I've had them in one form or another in just about every city I've lived where I had a phonograph, not because I sought them out, but they were, as I said, seemingly everywhere.

Billy Golden records are the first to come to mind. Some have some fun banjo on them and some of the song lyrics are pretty racist, but most of the jokes don`t really rely on race remarks to be funny. Most of the jokes are just two old friends harping on each other.

Not sure if this counts as it was from a "party" record that I heard on you tube.. but it contained the line about a girl from Kentuck who knew 40 different ways to ..... well I think you get the drift!

Probably a party record.

There's a guy named John Valby (aka "Dr. Dirty") who made a career for himself singing extremely vulgar/obscene songs in larger bars, mostly for college kids. Pretty much every college kid in the 80s had a copy-of-a-copy-ofa-copy-of-a-copy of at least one of his albums. He's 75 and still tours!

Blind Boy Fuller-Whats That Smells Like Fish (1938) is pretty risque. Unless of course it is a song about seafood
