Banner record

Post by Lucas »

Does anyone know about the banner record label? I bought 4 banner records on eBay and want to know more about them. I found these 2 websites http://majesticrecord.com/labelsb.htm http://78rpmrecord.com/labelshow.cfm?whichLabel=363 .
I know they where made by Leeds talk o phone from 1906 to 1907 but nothing else.

I know the Banner label from the 1920s. Never seen an earlier one like that before.

That early Banner label is new to me, but Leeds & Caitlin were known in the UK for their Concert and Imperial records which were imported here from 1906.

Following representations from The Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd, whose 10 inch records were labelled "Gramophone Concert", the importation of Leeds & Caitlin's Concert records soon ceased, but their Imperials were available until 1909, when patent litigation forced them to cease manufacture.
