That's the E.M.I. studio at Abbey Road in London.

What is that thing-ding down in front ? Playback speaker ?

Great photo--thanks for posting it!

Now, if only Columbia, in reaching the highest point in musical evolution, could have gotten its cutting lathes to run at a constant speed... :roll:

The Gramophone Company and Columbia UK merged in 1931 to form EMI. It was at that time the Gramophone Company opened their Abbey Road Studio. Columbia left the Petty France facility where Henry Wood made his earloer recordings and must have hence forth recorded at Abbey Road.
