Selection from "Bitter sweet" - Jack Hylton and his band

Post by Swing Band Heaven »

Jack Hylton and his orchestra play a selection from the Noel Coward play "Bitter sweet". Recorded in July 1929.

In going through my things recently I found some interesting photos of France taken in the 1880's. To see them the clearest you need to view the video in full screen mode.

Here's the rest of that image of Hylton...it's a cigarette card from the Radio Celebrities series. British celebs of course. This is the second series they issued . I think it dates from about 1935.

The very best orchestra ever recorded IMO.

Jim,
thanks for the rest of that card. The picture in that video was pinched from the internet and was cropped to take off the writing. Interesting to see what they had to say about him - I never relaised he entererd the medium of radio so early!

Shane - yes, absolutely one of the best from a bunch of great bands in the UK at that time. With so many to choose from its a tough competition :D
