Here’s a record that’s sort of perplexed me since I found it in a box of 78s 8 years ago. A promo record for the 1934 film
“Gift Of Gab.” Were these sold to the general public to get excited over an upcoming movie or was this record meant to be played over the radio only?
Movie promo records?

These are promotional items primarily for radio use. I have a few of them. The fun ones are the "open end" interviews where the interviewer parts are left out so that the DJ can ask the questions as if they're interviewing the celebrity themselves.

So DJs were doing that type of stuff as early as the 1930s? Interesting.52089 wrote:These are promotional items primarily for radio use. I have a few of them.
