 Post subject: Dating Amberol Special cylinders

Can someone tell me when the Special Amberol's were produced??

The blue box wax specials came out in 1908 and were sold cheaply as part of the conversion offer. The same titles were converted to Blue Amberol starting in 1912.

I think the orange box specials ("D" series) came out around 1909/1910. These were only given away when a customer successfully referred someone else to an Edison dealer. They are quite scarce.

Actually, the Special Amberol Records in the blue boxes weren't offered until April 1, 1910. Their production ceased in October 1912 with the appearance of Blue Amberol Records, but the Special Blue Amberols included with the 4-minute Attachments didn't appear until April 1913.

The D series offered as the "Promotion Plan" appeared in June, 1910.
