Beautytone Gramophone Record Cleaner

Post by JHolmesesq »

I've just been perusing eBay and I've come accross this listing:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Beautytone-Gramop ... 20b3d3e07b

The seller is selling a tin of "Beautytone Record Cleaner". I've never heard of this brand before, but the instructions mortify me. You're meant to smear this stuff over your records and leave it to soak in? It seems a bit strange to me, I doubt it still works!

Anyone care to shed some light in to this brand?

From The City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society...

This seems to be an old newsletter index. Hillandale News 1-220 Full Comprehensive Index. It has a reference to BEAUTYTONE Record Cleaner, Chap 10, Page 10.

You may want to contact them and see what it's about.

James.

I wonder if it is a mix of waxes to smooth the needle through the grooves...but in anycase id rather use soap and a nail brush to remove the crud and then play it with a nice modern pick up. I wonder when this dates to?
