I'm just playing tremendous VI 20675, and instrumentation mentions the tuba (DAHR), and no bass. Other side I remember being specially toe-tapping and boomy is Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man, Vi 21215, and this mentions (DAHR) both bass and tuba... ??? Can be this instrumentation notes a bit erratic?
Some sides as said before, sound like arched string bass... although it could be tuba, to my untrained ears these are not easily distinguished. Although notes given with arched bass have a peculiar sound (or is it a tuba? I'll have to check the recordings and the DAHR data for comparison).
Anyway, pretty moving and danceable tunes!
