Maybe it's psychological more than anything, but the embossed ones seem, to me, anyways, to be sturdier, heavier, than your average Victor record. They are well made discs of shellac.

I also have a few G&T's with the angel logo embossed on the back. Beautiful looking records.

Since you seem to have a fascination for Victor records in particular, I suggest you acquire a copy of "The Collector's Guide to Victor Records" (2nd Edition) if you don't have it already. It's available from Nauck's (link below) and elsewhere. It is profusely illustrated and goes into detail about the various label designs and special issues put out by Victor.

There were also "Angel and Baby" embossed records---I believe for export

I always loved that intricate design on the back of single sided RCA Victor discs. I’m just curious - how was this originally done? Was there some artist sculpting this by hand into a typical wax blank that then went through the typical plating/pressing process? The relief and detail is unlike anything seen in modern laser etched sides…
