Gang,

Well, I am not going to get into a debate about Edison. Let's just say that after reading many books on him and a long career as an electrical engineer working and developing products in industry I have a lot of respect for him and he is a real hero of mine.

It has also been said that the belated development of the electrical recording process took place in secret without Edison's knowledge. His sons were simply trying to reverse the decline in the company's fortunes.
Not sure how much developing of electrical recording was really going on at Orange. Edison Inc. used G.E. electrical recording equipment for their first electrical releases in mid-1927.
