I received my copy of Archeophone’s latest trove of recordings and was amazed at the depth of research and the interesting presentation of the 100 plus recordings of Emile Berliner 1889-1895 contained in the 2 CD package. It’s an encyclopedic presentation of rare Berliner 5-inch (4.92 in) discs. Their research team has done an outstanding job of putting together an excellent historical presentation (80 pages) of Berliner’s progress in perfecting the art of disc recording accompanied by illustrations and track notes. I’ve learned many new facts regarding these early recordings and Berliner’s methods of introducing them to the public.
Just my limited evaluation of this great archival work.
