Thanks George P.
Yes- Same Frank L. Dyer-- In the court documents there is reference to his death on June 4, 1941 and burial on June 6.. I found an obit for Dyer in a newspaper dated June 5, 1941 that references his work for Edison as an attorney. He was also an Edison biographer, co-authoring a book in 1910. He had 100 inventions including Talking Books for the Blind, with records lasting about 3 hours each.

The court case was essentially that Dyer was supposed to provide Steinberg with patents and engineering data for "lengthy sound reproducing discs and records" as well as models for "hill and dale" recording equipment. Steinberg said he never did, so was not inclined to pay the $10,000 promissory note to Dyer's heirs because he was not able to recoup his money due to not having the patents. etc. In fact Steinberg said Dyer never actually gave him the money at all.
