Victor Building at 201 N. Front Street, Camden

Post by Wolfe »

One of the buildings that housed Victor recording studios in Camden still exists. It was used for recording from 1917 until 1940's. There's a picture of Enrico Caruso and Victor A & R man Calvin Child standing there on the bottom step of that building.

Looking to this in Google maps, it occurred to me to see what is around, and I found this other building just in front, which also send to be another of the Victor buildings,

This was the headquarters. There were at least two or three other buildings still surviving from the complex.

My son and daughter-in-law went to a Willy Nelson concert last week in Camden----phoned me from there and asked---What is the dog's name again, when I told him, he said oh yhea, that's right

I want to visit this historic site, and stand on the same stairs that The Great Caruso did. I think I would cry.

However, I hear that Camden is not the safest place to visit.
