It is with deep sadness to share the sad news of the passing of Lawrence F. Holdridge this past February. He will be familiar to collectors of early classical vocal 78’s. He published auction lists for over 40 years, and was most highly regarded among collectors for his fastidiousness in quality and accurate grading, and his encyclopaedic knowledge. He was a dear friend and a very sweet, kind man. His passing marks the end of an era.
Condolences to his family.
I was fortunate to acquire some gems from his auctions over the past several years, and have attached images of a few from his last two lists.

A couple of obituaries:

I've been participating in his auctions for about 20 years, always with pleasure. He was always friendly and helpful when we had contact in connection with them, and when he sold a record, you could count on its being conservatively graded and playing reliably well. His passing was tremendously sad news.

I hadn't heard, and am saddened at the news. He lived not far from me, and knew so much about classical discs. RIP, Larry.
