VICTOR TEN INCH RECORD Label

Post by phonogfp »

I was corresponding with Mike Sherman the other day (probably the foremost authority on Victor record labels), and we touched on the early TEN INCH RECORD label. Mike did some research back in the late 1980s on this label, but of course without benefit of the Internet. We agreed that a survey was in order to determine which titles/catalog numbers were represented and an approximate number of surviving pressings.

If you have one or more examples of the VICTOR TEN INCH RECORD label, we'd like to hear from you, either here or via private message. A picture of your label(s) would be great, or simply the title, artist, and catalog number(s).

Thank you for your help with this research project!

Thanks for this survey George. I have a copy of 3005 and 3014. So far, 3005 appears to be the most frequently encountered example of this label. Only one copy of 3014 has turned up so far, but hopefully we'll learn more if this survey gets some responses.

Thanks for the encouragement. We don't expect an overwhelming response, since Mike estimates there may be only around 35-50 examples of the VICTOR TEN INCH RECORD label extant. Maybe we'll be surprised!

This was a super early label for monarch records.

Here are two examples of a slightly more unusual variant.
