Edison Diamond Disk C250 - Motor Issue

Post by kirbydo »

Hello everyone - need some help troubleshooting my Edison C250 motor...

1. Turntable turns freely by hand - will spin for a while after manually spinning - but stops after 15-20 seconds
2. Brake is not engaged
3. Unable to crank - firm stop when attempting

Not sure what to check or how to troubleshoot - took the motor out of the cabinet - appears relatively clean - no visible dirt or debris.

Suggestion on where to start / what to check?

Thanks!

Seems that you have some issues with the spring. You'd better disassemble the motor and examine the spring. If you turn the turntable manually, you are forcing the spring. Nevertheless, the spring on Edison motors is very big and powerful, so better to send the whole motor for repair if you have not done it before... I feel by the works I've done and reports from colleagues that an Edison DD motor is not the simple thing to start learning. The problem could also be in the winding ratchet. Some photos, or better a video explaining your problems could cast some light and make things clearer for an specialist to give you better advice (I'm not the guy you're looking for .. )

Thanks! Probably best to try and find someone to work on it - don't want to make matters worse.
