I think a lot of that furniture was moved by the maid to clean under it (so much of it has wheels!) and if you moved it and hit a threshold spilling china from the cabinet or records from the gramophone it could easily lead to "Mary Ann" needing a new job. Not to mention that the cost of such items is prohibitive.

Where did they keep all the keys?
