Getting Burnt Out Messing With Old Grease And Springs

Post by travisgreyfox »

Is there anyone out there that cleans and re-greases springs for cheap? I am talking about just mailing them the spring barrel(s) and they just take care of that part? I can manage everything else because its not as messy. That, and I'm usually broke

If so, how much?

After replacing a couple dozen mainsprings over the years, I began sending the spring barrels to Ron Sitko, and for an extra $15, he would install the grease the new mainspring. Now, for anything larger than an Eagle or a Q, that's exactly what I do. Much less mess...

If you want your motor degreased, I've heard that Dave Dazer (on this forum) does it ultrasonically, and for a fair price. He's a great guy to deal with.

Thanks George. I do not mind disassembling the motor and cleaning it. I just hate taking the springs out and putting them back in (the spring barrel cover is pain to put back on too).

Thanks for the info on Ron. I will give him a call for my next motor.
