Removing Rust with Electrolysis

This even frees up stuck piston rings in an engine. Expensive but really, really worth it. Soak it and let it sit overnight. Repeat if necessary.

I have used this electrolysis recently to remove rust from Great Grampa's wood planes.
It is very easy to do.
You do have to be patient.

And set yourself up in an area that will allow the rust to splash as you work with the part.
I put a tarp down because I drip. A lot


It will take a couple of series of cleanings to remove all traces.
Electrolysis bath then
scrub off the black gunk then
Electrolysis bath then

etc.

Now here is a tip...
went the part comes out of the bath and is rinsed, it's clean, so clean, that it rusts right away when rinsed off with hot water.

So be sure when you rinse to also use Krud Cutter brand Rust Remover. This rust remover leaves a slight protective film and will not allow that flash of instant surface rust. I just apply it with a cheap bristle paint brush as I'm rinsing the part

Works for me. It's a picture of a spray can of "Sili Kroil".
