Even with the speed control in the slowest position the c.1920 D-2 I am working on is turning too fast. It has a three-spring motor.
Any idea how to adjust the governor controls on a Columbia?

Following. I can't help you but have a grafonola that speeds up and slows down. Main springs have been cleaned and re-greased. Not sure what to do.

Today I decided just to see what I could do on it-- I took pliers & gently bent one leg of the governor friction yoke in just a little. Now it holds 80rpm at the middle of the dial. I oiled all pads with Remington gun oil, then oiled the pivot bearings in the motor just because. (The motor is an older rebuild from the early 2000s.) Then I oiled the brake to prevent a sudden jar from damaging the governor friction disc.
It seems to run very well right now and I was able to enjoy the testing process. This one goes back to its owner soon and more than likely, into frequent service as he likes to listen to music.
