Large phonograph moving trick

I recently had a machine delivered to my house and the guy who brought it to me had a neat trick for getting the machine out of the back of his SUV. He took 2 long 2x4s and put one under each side edge of the machine, with the end of each 2x4 sticking out out the back of the car. That meant the machine was now resting on the boards and was not touching the floor at all. Once that was set up, he pulled on the 2x4s until the machine was mostly out and then eased the machine onto the ground. He never had to worry about the machine getting scraped on the car, nor did he have to have someone lift the top of the machine while he removed the bottom.

I thought that was pretty clever. Just something to file away mentally for future reference.
