Those little cone washers....

Post by MikeB »

I almost feel silly asking about such a trivial part, but I frequently find myself in need of those little metal cone washers that are used on the carriage lift screws for Edison Homes, and possibly other models. I've tried using things like small locking washers, but it doesn't work and the carriage lift screw loosens after a few lifts. I figure that these have to be available though a hardware store, but I haven't found anything quite like them. Does anyone know if these are available, or if there is a simple alternative that will keep the screw from loosening?

Thanks.

My local hardware store lists something that looks similar as a "screw cup washer"; try searching for that at your hardware supplier.

As a workaround, could you use two or three normal washers of different diameters?

I also enjoy working on clocks and have these on hand anyway:

I have found a few uses for them in phonographs.
