Hello,
I recently started working on a Victrola VV-VIII with the one can two spring motor. I have noticed that the drive gear is slightly bent out of shape. Any advice on how to fix this issue would be appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Advice on fixing bent drive gear
I'd suggest finding a replacement. Maybe the one who sells it can repair this one, and admits the bent gear as partial payment.
Otherwise, to straighten the wheel would require good tooling, a vise, and some rotating equipment, a lathe or something to install the wheel and check its truth after every forcing trial.

I would also suggest finding another gear. This one could be straightened, but you would still have the heavily worn gear teeth, which is the real problem here. I really believe it was bent on purpose, to align the last little bit of remaining gear teeth with the spindle shaft, in hopes of squeezing a bit more life out of it.
