Any tips to help with Edison Diamond Disc reproducer BC-24

Hi, this is my first phonograph project and I could use recommendations for the reproducer.

First, the diaphragm thread snapped at what looks like just beyond a knot that formed a thread loop for the hook. I was thinking about threading a new loop into the knotted portion but not sure what type of thread to use or if it would work.

Second, the limit pin was missing. I was using some copper and brass wire to try and figure out the gauge and depth but it seems may be threaded at some point inside? thinner wire fit deeper than a 14 gauge wire.

Third, there seems to be corrosion on parts of the surface and I could use advice on a repair. I'm thinking about seeing if I can get decent sound and movement playing a disc before considering removing the diaphragm. I believe it is 1924 model based on the manual. There is easy play of the weight side to side and up and down. The stylus rotates easily on the its bearing. Air doesn't blow through the diaphragm and light tapping and touching the thread makes what I would describe as a microphone type tap and static sound. My hesitation to tear into it is some reading suggesting this may have cork gaskets and that the gaskets used in rebuilds can be oversized (slightly wider than the threaded retaining ring) or of a different material that could significantly dampen the sound. If it seems to work well without messing with the diaphragm, might be worth waiting and comparing the performance.

I think you'll find that the general recommendation will be to replace the diaphragm and gaskets. There are multiple alternatives for both, both from the suppliers in the Links section of the board and also some members here who have done some creative things.

I'm also sure that a lot of us could easily send you a new limit pin for your reproducer. It shouldn't be too difficult to pull one out of a parts reproducer. Putting the limit pin back will greatly reduce the likelihood of your reproducer thread breaking again.
