Replacement corner columns for Victor M?

Post by MikeB »

Does somebody make or have replacement corner columns for a Victor Monarch? My M is missing the bottom piece of two columns and the entire column on one corner. (I'm not really a woodworker, and don't know how to make them myself.)

I've read good things about Grandpa's Treasures and his reproduction corner columns. Anyone have his contact informations? I just checked the Links section and he's not listed there.

Is this the right one Jerry?
He's in Lexington, MI.
He has phono grilles listed, but no columns.
No doubt a competent woodworker could easily duplicate them though.

I think you'll be very pleased with his work. I don't know how much variation there is during the production of the Victor M but you might consider sending him a complete corner column for duplication. Maybe an accurate measurement is enough.

I made some for my M several years ago. They are simple to make if you have a table saw... Although to make the "V" shaped flutes, I had to modify a router bit and set "stops" on my router table to make them the correct length...

Tom has made these for me in the past. His are spot on. Others I have seen have flute lengths that are not all the same and don't look quite right. It is best to send him a sample or even the whole case since they do vary quite a bit. I am luck to live only 20 miles from him.

Foe anyone who wants to make their own, here is how I used a router bit to cut the flutes...

Thanks, everyone. He is backed up at the moment but I will probably send him the entire case when he has time. The result should be a beautiful Monarch!
