Here is below an enlargement of the Instructions for Applying Wax Dressing.

So the dressing is a wax. Unfortunately the depth of field and resolution of the picture are not such that body text of the instructions is completely legible, and some of the text is further obscured by the placement of the tube, lid, and wax pieces on the paper. Perhaps the text mentions what the wax is.

Some of the text can be made out, such as the instruction to play a treated record with a fibre needle first.

I happened to receive one of those instruction sheets recently, unexpectedly included with a thorn needle sharpener - very nice, as my Davey dressing tube and its little carton were missing one!
