I'm curious as to whether these are the same part or if they will interchange. I have a first type cylinder machine with a pot metal top casting and am wondering if the type A top casting is the same part? If so, it'll widen my options as to a cast iron replacement.
Thanks for any information,
Bret
Are Columbia A and AT top castings the same?

Sorry for any confusion, I have a first type AT cylinder graphophone with a pot metal top casting. Just to clarify.

Yes, the A and AT upper castings are interchangeable.
To clarify, all A and early AT castings are cast iron. Around 1900-1901, American Graphophone apparently experimented with the pot metal upper casting, but by 1902 they reverted to cast iron. Thank goodness...
