Help removing old glue.

Post by Jerry B. »

I'm rebuilding an old disc sound box and discovered glue or ? instead of an inside gasket. Any suggestions for softening the old glue for removal?

What's the reproducer from, if it's not made from pot metal, I would gingerly use a heat gun.
Direct the heat from the gun with some aluminum foil by forming a cone on the heat gun.

If it's epoxy it will disintegrate pretty quick, if it's JB Weld, I don't know what will eat that stuff.

If everyone could see the glue, that may help.

Jeff, Thanks for the suggestion. I tried a little paint remover and it seems to be doing the trick on my Columbia Analyzing reproducer.
