Problem with a 2-springs motor on a Monarch

Post by phonodesbois »

I just realized that one of the springs (the one on the left) is either broken or unhooked on the outside.
Although I already repaired or changed springs on various gramophones, I never did it on this particular model and I want to do it right (or leave it untouched…).
I think that the next step should be to remove the pin on the left side (see pic) and the support but after that…
Could you provide advices?
Thanks a lot
Ps: just by curiosity, will the motor works (for a shorter duration of course) if I just remove the “broken” spring?

Yes, remove the pin. No, you can't operate it with only 1 spring.

Hopefully, you can just repair the broken spring end. If you use a new spring, it would be best to then replace both of them.
