How to remove Edison mainspring from barrel

I have my friend's Edison Home cylinder player for rehab and reached the point now to remove the mainspring from its barrel. This is a job I've done for many Columbias and Victors but not for the Edison. In principle it should be the same, but I'd like to ask how to proceed. I've attached three pictures.

What I'd like to do is remove the arbor and rachet wheel--along with any other wheels (i.e. gears)--and hold in my hand just the barrel with the mainspring inside. Then, that being the case, I can easily pull out the mainspring. It looks like the ratchet wheel is a friction fit to the mainspring arbor.

Maybe the best thing to do is to stop there and have someone who has done this before tell me what to do next. Here are the pictures:

I got it. Now to measure what's in there.
