VV-XIV Tonearm Repair

Post by mrbechet »

Got my XIV motor running so I removed the tonearm to clean it up.

When I disassembled it I noticed there’s a hole in the ring that sits on the bearings that matches a hole in the back of the tonearm.

Then I remembered that when I first got the machine I found a little pin and saved it, not knowing what it was.

Is that pin supposed to hold the ring to the tone arm? If so, why is it not threaded? Also, does it look like somebody tried to weld or solder it in place? What do I do to fix it? And if none of that is correct, what is it called so I can buy the missing piece?

Photo below.

Thanks!
Mark

It was originally soldered in place. Just reassemble and resolder.
