It certainly interests me. Transcribing ethnographic, cylinders is very important, some of those cylinders likely contain the only recordings ever of native personages. I assisted Pablo Helguera in the creation of the Dead Languages Conservatory, a collection that is spread out in museums throughout North , Central, and South America. Chief Marie Smith Jones cylinder collection, the last person to speak the EYAK launguage, and who passed away in January of 2008, is at the Nelson Atkins Museum of art. When the collection was opened to the public, I recorded Apache Princess Alista Thorne telling about the Apache version of creation. The collection is several hundred cylinders, of which I created the blanks and was the sound engineer on the cylinder recorder.
