Surely one of the most difficult and most desireable of Edison Diamond Discs, these two recordings feature what I believe is the very first appearance of Red Nichols on a record label using his own name. And the recordings are simply breathtaking for early jazz enthusiasts.
This is the elusive and incredibly enjoyable "Alabama Stomp" coupled with "Stampede" on Edison Diamond Disc 51854 recorded in the Fall of 1926 in New York City. Red Nichols was joined in these recordings by early jazz greats Miff Mole (Irving Milfred Mole) and Jimmy Dorsey among others to record these two wonderful sides for Edison in New York City. Their relaxed style of playing the hot individual solos is noteworthy on these recordings.
These are shiny excellent condition sides. There is a very small check-mark scratch on the Alabama side that affects absolutely nothing. You may search for many years (as I did) to find such a nice original copy of this rare Edison record.
PM with interest. Price includes securely packaged USPS Priority Mail in the USA. International shipping at cost.
Thanks.
