FOR SALE - British "Supergrand" Phonograph - $325

Post by brianu »

This is an interesting little lightweight and compact floor model, a British made Supergrand, that I bought five or six years ago but have now decided to sell as it has just been sitting in storage for the past year and a half. It's exceptionally clean, and the cabinet overall is in nice shape with some light wear. It functions perfectly, the motor and reproducer have both been rebuilt. There's even some record storage. It's obviously not the most sophisticated or valuable machine, but I've never seen another. I'd like $325 for this... it's located in southern NJ just outside Philadelphia. If interested, send me a message or email brianu73 at hotmail. Thanks.

I’m also open to trades for something smaller, need to make some space in the storage unit.

That's a really neat phonograph, Brian, and I love the tag line: "British to the last screw."

Thanks Grant... have to admit, was definitely the decal that compelled the purchase for me.

In the UK this type of machine is known as an "assembled" gramophone. Between the wars there were dozens of small firms using bought in components to assemble into cabinets of their own manufacture. They bought their components when and where they could, hence Brian's "Supergrand" has a Garrard motor whereas the eBay example has a Collaro.
