Hello all
This is a Standard Talking Machine Type X made by the Columbia Phonograph Company. It dates to 1910, and works perfectly. The motor has been greased and the reproducer has been rebuilt for the best sound. The crank does not actually touch the cabinet surface, but if you're not careful it is a knuckle buster! I have seen many pics of these machines and most have this longer crank. I suspect it is refinished, as there is no decal, but I have also heard some had no decals that were given away as premiums. Let's assume for the listing that it is refinished The spindle originally would have been ½" in diameter to play Standard Records. Many times the spindles are machined down to play 78s with a regular spindle hole size, and this is one of those examples. It plays any lateral 78rpm disc. Let me know if you have any questions!
