Wanted: Victor front mount cover plate

Does anyone have one of these available? It covers the hole when a front mount is converted to a rear mount. Also, does anyone know what the hole in it is for?

does anyone know what the hole in it is for?
I've collected for fifty years and for forty-nine years I've had the same question. Why the hole? Also, why is that part a cast piece that's so heavy? A little stamped plate would accomplish the same thing.

Wasn't the hole for a front mount horn arrangement ?
