Phono based child’s carousel FOR SALE

About 40 years ago my dear wifey was desiring an old merry go round or carousel animal. I did one better, I brought her home a whole carousel. There was a huge phonograph collection on the east side of Cleveland, and a good friend was handling the sale for the widow of the collector. From my poor memory ,I believe her name was Stephanie Kapel …. Perhaps Kramer, or Klein. Perhaps any old timers out there can remember them. Anyhew, the collection was stored in a neat old two story barn and was packed with treasures. Dozens of old time phonographs of every make, and this beautiful carousel. It was one of the stars of the collection. 12 hand carved and painted horses, all with real hair tails, and leather tack. Two nice chariots. It’s based on a LITTLE WONDER record player, made in Elyria Ohio by the General Industry Co…….as an aside , my mother worked for this company during the war years, and my great grandfather worked there close to the time the phonograph was made. I have more history to share of the toy with any interested party, but in a nutshell, it was manufactured by the Newton Falls Paper Co, in Newton Falls, NY. 1920
Really nice construction , the lower wood base unit has hinged doors all around, and the upper structure and animals can all be taken off and stored inside. I doubt the machine has ever been apart in all these years and it is wonderful condition for 100 + years old. Even the linen top is original and in amazing condition. Take a peek at the construction of the folding roof supports. It’s an overall amazing toy/phonograph. There is a small electric motor behind one door, and when the machine is working, the horses and chariots revolve around and make a rock8mg motion like a carousel would.
It was originally made for two little girls, Rebecca and Sally Morrison ,Hopewell, Va. it still has the shipping tag attached to the bottom
We have enjoyed this unique machine for many years now but perhaps it’s Ike to search out a new caretaker. 12 horses, two chariots complete the menagerie .
