WANTED: VICTOR BRAKE SPRING

Post by jboger »

I'm putting back in working order a Victor Schoolhouse model. I've cleaned up the case. And the motor is now running smoothly. I've order the parts for the No. 2 reproducer (The Phonograph Shop), so waiting for those to come.

Well, the automatic brake mechanism is missing the spring (see photo) I've tried a spring from a ballpoint pen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And the spring has a habit of coming off. I've attached a photo (grabbed from the Internet) of the brake mechanism. You can see the spring I'm looking for, but may also consider purchasing the entire brake mechanism but only if it is functioning properly. The brake mechanism is not a rare part unique to the Schoolhouse model. If you have either the spring or the entire mechanism (must be like the one in the photo--there are other versions), let me know the cost.

John
