Plop that down in the San Francisco Bay area, and you could probably add another $1,000.00 to the asking price, if not more--even today. I paid more for my beaten up 4-40, which is still missing its stretcher. That was 22 years ago, at a time when Orthophonic Victrolas were scarce where I live. (They still are. )

Sure they're scarce up here, but nobody apparently wants or needs one, at least on TMF. I suppose I'd better be smart and post it on Craigslist and Marketplace, but I'm lazy

It looks like it might have and orthophonic soundbox lock on it. Used by dealers to keep people from easily stealing the soundboxes.

Is that what that is? I haven't been able to figure out how to attach it back to the reproducer again after I took it off for repairs. I wondered what that was as I've never seen it before in pictures.
