WANTED, early Victor motor, (D, VI, MS…)

Post by Django »

I am looking for a motor for my Pooley VTLA. It is an early flat top that has a slotted crank, s/n 884, (first batch from 1906). The motor was a 3 spring with bevel gears. The original would be the same as an early VI, but I think that a motor for a D or MS would work. A 2 spring Monarch motor would probably fit and function if I can’t get a 3 spring motor. The motor can be in need of a rebuild and I will pay a fair price.

Victor VI motor shown for reference.

Thanks

I couldn't quite read the date on the paper label but it looks like 1906. Is that correct?

Thanks, Jerry B.

Yes, 1906. The first batch was 500, starting with No. 501. This is No. 884.

Some don’t like the style, but I do. To me, it looks like a music box on top of a matching cabinet. Being the first Victrola is pretty cool too.

I think these started with a number before 501. That tradition had not begun yet. I am pretty certain I've seen them in the 200's.

I don’t see one of these on eBay, (completed or current). It is always difficult to make an offer without some reference. Does anyone know what a fair price would be?

Thanks

Would the motor out of a Third style VTLA work?
