For Sale: Kurtzmann Glass Phonograph

Post by edisonclassm »

Out of the Estate of Chet Ramsay music box dealer this very rare Kurtzmann Studio model glass phonograph. All of the glass is in perfect condition. This machine has a nifty ball style electric motor with belt drive and plays perfectly. Comes with an original sales brochure. I can deliver this to the Wayne Music show in October. $4500

A few years ago I had one from Ernie Bennet’s collection. Ernie told me that when he bought a previous one, it arrived all smashed up. So, to acquire the one that he eventually sold me, he flew to the seller’s location and bought an extra airplane seat to bring it back himself. Those were the days, I guess when people could do that. Don’t suppose the TSA would be very understanding today.

Anyway, the one I got from Ernie ended up (safely) in a museum in Holland. They are very unique, to say the least.

Thanks guys for the compliments. This was one of Chet's favorite pieces. I tried buying it from him numerous times without success and now I am selling it for the family. Fitting that it came back to Buffalo, the town in which it was built!

Also, it's almost impossible to find one of these where the glass hasn't been chipped or broken. This one is perfect!

I remember seeing this machine probably 15 years ago. It made an impression then, and it still does.

Worthy of a museum! I would be too scared to have this beautiful piece in my house. It needs a display room of its own.

Beautiful machine Paul! I remember seeing it at the phonograph show. Defiantly one you don't run across very often! John
