Victor needle box repros?

Post by estott »

OK- I get to start this forum off.
Is anyone making reproductions of the cardboard needle box that came with the VV-50? Mine is dropping to pieces, if I mend one area another breaks.

Which boxes are those? If you're talking about what I'm thinking, I may have a spare (not sure the condition, but I think I have an extra).

They are little black rectangular boxes. Inside are compartments for full tone and half tone needles, plus a place to put used needles. In the top of the lid it says VICTOR NEEDLES and inside are some admonitions to use VICTOR Needles and Tungs-Tone needles.

I've seen an example with three needle compartments but I believe the two compartment one is usual. It's 4 x 21/4 and just the right size to drop into the VV-50 horn for traveling.

So it was what I was thinking...kind of. I think the only one I have spares of is the 3 compartment one (took me forever to land the 2 compartment one), and I'm not even sure what condition those are in (some are a touch tattered).

I'll check when I get home tonight.

I've heard someone was making repros- I'd like one that is good for regular use, not just something that looks nice but is only god for display. Right now when I take my 50 out for use I keep the needles in one of the extra small Altoids tins.

This is entirely off topic, but I think the two of you with your successive alternating posts are the first saxophone/lute duet of which I am aware...could we book you two for our next social engagement on The Talking Machine Forum? ;)

...and now back to the regularly scheduled on-topic posts...

Reminds me of PDQ Bach's "Concerto for Lute and Bagpipes"

Want some accordion with that too? Or would polka music ruin the fun? :D
