Anyone have a copy, or maybe able to scan a copy of the "Set-up, Operate, Care, The Orthophonic Victrola". Thanks in advanced!

Re: Orthophonic Manual?
Unfortunately, I don’t have a copy of it, but if someone can scan it, I’d be glad to offer my OCR skills to make text and PDF versions of it, much as I did with the Edison Disc Motor Manual.

I'm pretty sure I have one (I have a little stash of manuals at home...cheaper to collect than the machines, and take up less space too).
I'll get back to you in the AM.

And if you act fast, you can get an original off ebay

A little beat up...but still, an original copy....if not, I'll scan and post mine.

Ah yes, I saw that as well. I wonder if its worthwhile setting up a section on the board for scans of manuals / service data. That sure would be handy. What do you reckon John / David?

Re: Orthophonic Manual?
I was strongly leaning towards setting up a thread in the archives (much the way that we archive the Featured Phonographs) that links to a thread for each manual posted.richardh wrote:I wonder if its worthwhile setting up a section on the board for scans of manuals / service data. I just wanted to have more than one manual to put on it before I do it, and since I don’t collect manuals, I would either have to borrow them from John (which I did with the previously mentioned manual), or use someone else’s scans. I’ve been planning on borrowing other manuals from him, but I hadn’t gotten around to doing it yet.
I definitely think that from a collection standpoint, it’s preferable to have the actual manual, but I really like having OCR PDFs because they can be searched.
The more useful content that I can help get online for the benefit of everything, the better, and I strongly feel that our members have a wealth of information that they continue to share.
I’ve learned a lot from you (collectively) so far, and no doubt will learn more in the future. Thank you all.

Re: Orthophonic Manual?
Well, if interstested, I do have a small collection of Victor manuals. I can drum up a list tonight if anyone is intersted....and in case anyone has a VTLA manual or an early Victor 1 manual, I'm willing to fork over some cash for those.

Re: Orthophonic Manual?
I have the original manual for my 1917 VV-XI model G, serial 370333G, which I would be happy to scan and contribute to such a project. BTW, it also contains an interesting section on fiber needles and the Victor guillotine needle sharpener.

Re: Orthophonic Manual?
Henry (and anyone else who is interested),
By all means, please feel free to scan any manuals you’d like to see on here (and definitely archived in the Archives), and either e-mail the pages to me ([email protected]) or attach them to a private message to me. I recommend scanning at 300 DPI or better, although I’ll use any resolution provided.
I will then run them through OCR and get them up as both a post and a PDF, like I did with the previous manual.
Also, please let me know how you would like to be credited; right now I am thinking about copying the credit style of the last page in the first manual, with the addition of either “, scans by ____.” or “, manual scans graciously provided by ____.” (The ____ would be however you’d like your name or user name to appear.)
Once we have a second manual up, I’ll make the archive page (and credit whoever made the scans with a link to their profile, as well).
