In keeping with tradition of end of year lists, let this be the first post of “Top Find of 2016” for each of us. Pick your favorite 2016 acquisition for this post. I can kick it off with this little Maroon GEM with Flowered Horn. I do not know the manufacturer of the horn but it is only 9.5” across and 12.5” long with the obvious hand painted flowers. No hanger on this little horn. Let’s see what 2016 brought you! John

John Duffy, your horn on that Gem is WONDERFUL!!!!! I had a great year all the way around. I married a great woman, attended Union, Stanton's Fall auction and had the opportunity to purchase some nice, unmolested machines. Met Mike Sorter (gsphonos) this summer. Cookout @ Rod Pickett's house (so knowledgeable and Fabulous machines) . My best finds are toss up between Edison spring motor and Amberola 1a discussed on other threads. Here are some others I picked up this year.

Hard to keep it at one. Either my W-250 in pristine condition or my Fireside w/cygnet horn.

It's difficult for me to ignore the Graphophone Type "N" I acquired from a very well known collector/historian (and great friend; George Paul), but I think my favorite "find" of 2016, has to be my Edison Long Playing Console 1-C #1,054.

It was certainly one of the more transformative machines I have in my small collection, and I'm considerably proud of the end result. Plus, on the upside, I developed my own process for producing what I think is a very realistic looking grille cloth to complete the machine.

Kudos to Peter F. for supplying me with the missing door (grille) parts!

Happy 2017, folks!

My little Wondrola that was shown on the Forum about a month ago. The case is Plain-Jane, but the decal stands out. Fran, what is the cylinder machine on top of your Edison DD? I think it looks pretty neat with the lid and horn & crane.

Nice finds and restorations.

This year, my finds go on the machines.

Several great 2M and 4M cylinders of Mexican folk music, including this 2M Amberol.
A few strong Blues discs including Blind Willie Johnson and this one by Furry Lewis.
