I believe this is the only time I have ever seen a real
Art Model Phonograph from the late teens - early 20's actually demonstrated on Youtube.

Thanks for this link, it's great to see and hear this lovely Sonora in action. Does this model have the swing-out door in the compartment that houses the vertical-adapter? I thought I saw it in the video. That's the first time I have seen that great little needle box, with the needles intact, but is the little booklet for advising on use of the needles or the operation of the instrument itself? Just wondered. With all of the discussions to date and the great photos of this Sonora, I hope these "Art Models" will be more appreciated---and not just viewed as source of parts. I'm old enough to remember a time when upright phonographs/Victrolas----of ANY make or model---were sneered at for being virtually worthless. Maybe the console machines---despite their space-hogging tendencies---are finally finding an appreciative audience.

From the standpoint of a Collector, I have never seen an Art Model demonstrated in a video, containing not only various camera angles of the machine, but also the various parts as well as the extras that came with it, followed by the playing of a record. I thought this so unique, that it deserved a separate thread of its own. Sorry that you obviously disagree and that this has caused you to become upset to the point that you have taken the time to gather up all of the threads relating to the Sonora Art Model, and show us just how many have been made. Since I am only responsible for one that I would consider repetitive, and in the true spirit of Thanksgiving I have taken the time to delete it. As far as the others are concerned, those were postings made be someone else, and if the Moderator in his wisdom believes that this is truely upsetting and represents a real annoyance and burden to those who use this forum on a regular basis, then I would certainly as member of this forum, respect his decision to consolidate the various remaining threads under one heading. Happy Thanksgiving.

numerous threads on the same topic - ie., this particular
sonora - are just needlessly repetitive, regardless of whether they're truly "upsetting" or "burdensome" (which is really an exaggeration), or whether it's thanksgiving (which is just as irrelevant as the redundant ramblings posted on those numerous threads about this machine). and it didn't take long to "gather up" all of them, being that they've all been posted over the past couple of weeks.
nevertheless, given the amount of conversation it has generated (well, mainly from you and its owner at least), perhaps this super rare
sonora jacobean robespierre deluxe mega expensive (but purchased for a phenomenal price)
art model indeed deserves a special section on this forum, if not it's own forum.

Kirkwood,
I'm the owner of the great machine.. The booklet tells you how to use the needles and what each type of needle is for, it also has info on how to use the machine and care for it as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The response has been very very good, and thanks to Bruce's help to and his research to and time, we are finding more and more info out each day on this great machine

Victrolaman, your comment is unnecessarily rude. Brianu touched upon a valid point. I strongly support the idea to collect all information about a specific machine in one thread. This supports an easier and more convenient access and does your machine more justice than spreading the information. As for me I have skipped some of your postings and possibly missed valuable information which I hadn't if presented in more concentrated form.

Has anyone really established what this art model is really worth on today's market ? or did I miss something here. Is it really mega expensive to by one of these today?? I have not seen anyone come forward with evidence of one selling recently for huge sums of money. Who came up with the evidence of it being Mega Expensive ?? Where is this information coming from ?

I think I answered the owners question (the best I could) in the first or second thread.Value and worth are whatever "two" people agree on at the end of a deal. Clearly the owner thought he did well buying it for 275,280,or 300.00. I'm no longer certain what it was and from the posts written by the the owner on this and other forums neither is he. I too strongly support that this be all in ONE thread in order to be able to follow all of the information that was and may be found on the machine. Even the motor information I took the trouble to find, download, etc....is now lost on a thread way back and to me just a waste of my time.Others on this and other forums own machines that are also rare, rare, rare, rare and rare. However, I have never seen anyone run that many threads on one.
If the new and "excited" owner and his great and kind, helpful friend care to do the machine justice than maybe it deserves to be shown the right way.IMHO
